I have not been following the diet that my doctor told me to follow. Neither have I been taking the appetite suppressant that she prescribed me. I feel like such a failure. Why do I have zero discipline when it comes to my weight loss?
Its frustrating. I know I need to lose weight. For my health and so I feel better about myself. My family knows I need to lose weight. And they tell me all the time. Not in a mean way, but in a very concerned way. I just wish that they would offer to work out with me or give me healthy recipes or something constructive. Instead of just telling me what I already know.
Sigh.

Starting My Weight Loss Journey
My doctor has diagnosed me as "Pre-Diabetic".
NOOOO!!!!
I have been dreading that. Granted, it's not as bad as actually being diabetic. But considering that I am EXTREMELY overweight, and I have a family history of diabetes (both grandmothers and now both my parents have it), I kinda saw it coming. Fortunately my doctor said that my blood sugar is normal right now. Everything was normal on my lab work. Except my metabolism is really low. She has me taking Metformin (which is used for diabetes and PCOS) and told me that it should help me lose some weight. I am supposed to go back after a month of taking it. I've weighed myself on my scale at home and if it's right (I never trust those things!) then I've lost about 5 pounds in 2 weeks! WOOHOO!!
I am on an eating schedule, to boost my metabolism. I've even had to set alarms on my phone to remind me to eat. That's why my metabolism is almost gone. I have the habit of eating only once or twice a day, usually bigger meals. So I am working on eating 6 times a day, every 2-3 hours. Its been working pretty well. I have more energy and feel myself actually getting hungry!
I've also been going to the gym with my hubby. Which is so great. I have a Curves membership, but I haven't been there since December. (Even though I'm still PAYING for it!!) We've been going to one of the gyms on post this week. Riding bikes and walking on the treadmill. I've been taking it slow, so I don't hurt myself, but I'm proud that I've done it every day! Although, today I went on a walk with my sister, cause it was SISTER DAY! It was harder than using the bikes or treadmills at the gym, but definitely worth it.
Well, I have to get some rest. Be back soon!

About Us
These Real Women Have Cuurves. And are PROUD of it!
Jessica
I'm Jessica Lucas, a simple girl from a small town in Virginia. I'm married to a country boy named Tim and I have a cat named Karma who has been my little sidekick since I was 15. I enjoy reading, photography, good movies and good music. I was an Art major in college and lately I've been trying to find some inspiration to create art again. I've also been trying to channel my inner Julia Child and learn to be a better cook (and to learn to actually ENJOY cooking). I often describe myself as eccentric, quirky and an all-around dork. Ask my friends and they'll likely agree. I'm sarcastic and random but I have a big passion for life and I love my family and friends dearly! One of my other great passions in life is traveling, especially traveling with friends. I work for a computer software company, which I absolutely LOVE, but sitting in front of a computer all day has caused the pounds to creep up on my fast, which I HATE. Thus, here we are. My sis and I are on a mission to lose some pounds with the support of each other and our readers.
Sarah
I'm Sarah Gravely, a southern gal from Nashville TN. I just married the love of my life, Matthew, on January 16, 2010. He is a soldier getting ready to deploy this summer. I love reading, scrapbooking, photography, blogging, movies, etc. I am obsessed with finding all kinds of new recipes to try for me & my hubby. I am very close with my family, but they are absolutely amazing so that's no surprise! I have the absolute best friends anyone could ever ask for! I am a stay at home wife. I am an entrepreneur. I am an artist. I am a singer. I am many things.
I was recently diagnosed with PCOS - Polycystic Ovary Syndrome. Polycystic ovary disease is a condition in which there are many small cysts in the ovaries, which can affect a woman's ability to get pregnant. It also has many symptoms including weight gain, diabetes, increased hair growth, infertility, etc. This explains a lot of the health problems I have been enduring over the last few years. But it is also very scary and emotional. My goal is to lose weight to be healthier. So that I can live a long and happy life.
